3 Reasons Why You Need to Buy One Direction’s Midnight Memories

December 20, 2013
midnight memories

I love One Direction – no surprise really. Their latest album, Midnight Memories is nothing short from perfection. I could listen to Harry Style’s incredibly soothing voice all day, every day. I got sent the album from Sony Music – totally unexpected – to review so thought to do this a bit differently: give you reasons to buy this album.

The boys:  heck, I want to meet Harry, Zayn, Niall, Louis and Liam so badly! They are so talented and it really shows in this album. This is definetely their best offering yet. I quite enjoyed (read: loved) the music video for Story of my Life – simple and touching. Then again, the song has been on repeat on my walk from work to the bus and it really gets to me. I am getting off track here, if you are not a fan of 1D (uh, you should be) you should get this to fall in love with these gifted guys because I fell in love with them all over again.

Best song(s) ever: let me reiterate this, this is One Direction’s best album to date – well they get more and more incredible each year. There are a number of songs that stand out for me on this album which include: Best Song Ever, Story of my Life, Diana, Midnight Memories and You and I… Oh gosh, those are the first five tracks actually. But really, Diana is one of my ultimate favourites – even Justin Bieber gave his approval!

Unique sound: Well, up and until this point I sound like one massive fangirl – apologies. Let me try to compose myself for five minutes to explain to you the sounds of this album. I quite enjoyed the different musical influences in this album; not entirely pop is always a good move. There is some 80s rock, retro vibes and a bit of folk-style beats thrown into the mix. Don’t think they were trying to tap into all avenues at once and failed, they didn’t…. This works wonderfully. I did not expect some of it and loved it dearly.

Be warned, when you listen to this album your heart will melt with the lovely lyrics the boys sing. This is a great Christmas gift so you best go out and get it for yourself or someone you know (Directioner or not).

Review: Balm Balm

November 28, 2012

I’ve been so MIA that it’s no longer even slightly funny. Who goes from updating every second day to updating once a week? Um… not good. From now on I have no excuses because I’m done with studying for the year until next February and I finally bought an iPad – from now on you’ll have to beg me to stop posting! Seriously.

Anywho, sorry about starting this post with a huge photo of half my head but the focal point is on the two products in my hand rather: a lip balm and foot balm from Balm Balm. About a week back I received a package with these two products to do a review on. Balm Balm is the UK’s leading 100% Organic Skincare Company. Their products are so, so simple, easy to use, affordable and overall lovely consisting of Balms for your whole body in Fragrance Free, Rose Geranium & Tea TreeBath & Body Oils – there are products even available for babies! They are endorsed by the FSC, Soil Association, Leaping Bunny and Carbon Neutral company. It’s so exciting to have products like this available in South Africa!

Tea Tree Foot Balm: I had my mom use this on her feet and she said that she really liked it. It does not leave your skin feeling dry – which I’ve seen many products do – and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling overly oily; it perfectly moisturises your skin. I also used it on my own feet and I love it!

Fragrance Free Lip Balm: My new favourite product! Because this is fragrance free, I like to use it under my lip gloss or lip stain that I use – it really does leave my lips feeling so great! We’ve been having  a lot of cold weather which affects my lips (chapping and such) but this balm protects it from all of that.

Tip: to add a little flavour to the Lip Balm, you can remove the Balm Balm lid and place the jar in a microwave for 60 seconds or until melted through. Add just one drop of essential oil or food flavouring. Stir with the end of a teaspoon. Put lid back on and place in the fridge to re-set. Voilà! A flavoured lip balm – how amazing!?

My verdict? I love them and plan to get more of their products in the future – I love how you can buy a product and add things to it and such – so cool!
