FAQ

Because this needs to be posted

I get asked the same questions often, which I don’t mind answering but sometimes it gets a bit repetitive. Some are the obvious and others aren’t, but hopefully it will give you some general insight when it comes to my life and work. Feel free to ask any other Qs if you have any.

How old are you?

I was born on 9 May 1993 (on Mother’s Day!) and that makes me 20 years old.

Where do you live?

In Durban, South Africa.

When did you start blogging?

If we want to get technical, I started blogging when I was 13 years old but it was frivolous and of no importance, but Mish Informed was started during the middle of 2011.

Some of your blog titles are very random – why is that?

My friend says my post titles are sometimes weird, so I thought I’d explain why. Sometimes the titles are straightforward but most times they are song lyrics. Sometimes I’ll use lyrics from my favourite songs or I will Google search lyrics related to a topic, listen to a few songs and normally take some lines from the songs I end up liking.

Why are comments on some posts disabled?

I disable comments on press releases because  I place them up if they’re relevant to me and if I plan to attend an event/try a product/whatever else makes it relevant so people are aware of it and can read it but if people have questions about a PR they can e-mail me or comment on my latest post.

How did you get into celebrity reporting and entertainment writing?

Well, I’m not limited to those two categories as I’ve done opinion pieces and angle pieces, but I got into writing in about the eleventh grade during a school project – that was four years ago. In the project we had to talk about what career we’d like to get in to and I decided to choose Journalism, I got in touch with a few journalists, loved the feeling and realized that telling the story behind a person is what I’d love to do.

Do you get nervous before interviewing someone?

All of the time. I’m a very shy person, which some people can never believe, but I hide my nerves and compose myself because I know I need to get a good interview.

Can you name a few people you enjoyed interviewing?

This is always tough because each person is great to talk to but if I had to choose I loved interviewing Debora Patta, Jeannie D and Cody Simpson. Oh, and let us not forget Gregg Sulkin (Wizards of Waverly Place; Pretty Little Liars) saying he loves my accent and wants to marry a South African.

Do you ever ask for autographs?

The only person I’ve ever asked for an autograph is from Debora Patta, otherwise I just ask for a picture but sometimes I don’t even get around to doing that!
