DStv MVCAs: Best Fashion

I can’t be the only person who has noticed that South African celebrities are killing the fashion game! From bold looks to classic styles, they’ve been bringing the best of the best when they step out onto the red carpet.

I had to do a piece on DStv.com about the winners from the weekend’s DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards and boy did I marvel at the glitz and glam. Did I have some fomo about not being there? Of course, but I still enjoyed taking in all the looks from my TV screen and smartphone.

How to order ColourPop from South Africa

A lot of people still don’t know this, but you can order ColourPop cosmetics and have it directly sent to you in South Africa. Say goodbye to all of those mail and package forwarding compares (well, for this online store at least).

Yes, you can totally order ColourPop Cosmetics from South Africa. If you’re wondering what in the world they are, they’re the closest dupes to majority of the Kylie Jenner lip kits. It turns out they use the same factory – it explains a lot really. At practically a quarter of the price of most brands, with insane quality ColourPop is really worth the wait. Also, they collaborate with a lot of cool people for various collections including Karrueche, Amanda Steele and even Sanrio’s Hello Kitty.

2016 Grammys Fashion

I was quite disappointed to not have seen some of my favourites at the 2016 Grammys – mainly Nicki Minaj, of course. I mean, even Rihanna had to cancel her performance on the day due to becoming really sick. They may have not been there, but the awards show was still great. A bit lackluster in some aspects but overall enjoyable.

I quite enjoyed everyone realising how wonderful Demi Lovato is and what a great voice she had. Lady Gaga gave us 2012 flashbacks with her David Bowie inspired outfit and can we have a moment for #Taylena (Taylor and Selena) going together to the show?

There were so many lovely looks on the evening, here are some of my favourites from the night!

Converse x South Africa

It was such an honour and exciting time to be able to afford some of you awesome guys an opportunity to attend the Converse store openings in Gateway (Durban) and Sandton City (Johannesburg) over the last few weeks. I think it was a great way to kick off December as well as celebrate Converse's official opening of their speciality retail stores. Converse is a brand, as I have said, which I have grown up adoring. It's a brand which really believes in the importance of individual style as well as comfort. I love the many unique ways you can jazz up your chucks and walk around in crazy, cool style!  The stores in both JHB and DBN will offer over 100 different styles for men, women and children will be on offer including Chuck Taylor All Star, Jack Purcell, CONS, Converse by John Varvatos as well as other premium footwear collaborations. Fans...

Converse x Sandton City (GIVEAWAY)

Last week I told you about my introduction to the Converse brand when I still lived in Durban and was younger (then what I am now). The brand really is the epitome of style and comfort. What else will let each and every person be able to showcase their individual style and personality? The answer: very few clothing and shoe brands. Living in Johannesburg has had me be exposed to so many different types of people. From sporty to girly to hip to eccentric, what I noticed with each and every one of them was their common appreciation for one brand: Converse. It's rare to see a brand have such an appeal to such a wide and vast audience. It's always funny to think about how different a band rocker is to a self-titled geek. Oh well, each of them can rock their pair of Converse shoes like no one else...

What’s in my bag – rAge Expo 2015 edition

I'm going to rAge Expo 2015! I'm so happy and excited and beyond thrilled (I can't even form proper sentences)! rAge is something I've always wanted to go to, but living in Durban meant it was never really an option. My friend, MAthew and I would always talk each year in high school saying we want to go and roadtrip to the expo, but we never did. Now, I'm finally going. Yup, it's happening. I'm heading to the expo with media passes because I am keen to do interviews and tons of coverage so make sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter to see my updates - I'll Periscope too. I've decided to share what I plan to take to rAge. I got so excited, some of the items are upside down and I only noticed later - but who cares, right? Saturday is going to be hot - JHB is currently...

Wild Orchid at Forever New

Last week I attended the Forever New collection unveiling event with my sister and lovely friend from work, Chantelle. The collection is called Wild Orchid and has a beautiful palette of pinks and blues which I adore plus the signature Forever New floral.

The event, as always, was a pretty and lovely setting at the Sandton City branch. Most collections are worn by models but Forever New chose a great group of women to showcase the clothing this time around. Some of these women are actually friends of mine such as the uber-cool Sureshnie from 5FM and queen of PR Melanie Ramgee. I also loved seeing Allegro, Mokgads and Roxy Burger amongst the other Wild Orchids for the night.

Many macaroons and mocktails (and singing Love is An Open Door from Frozen with Sush) later, I must say, Forever New always throws a perfect gathering! I’m still not too sure how I missed so many of my Twitter friends (like LadyZaa and Le1ghLo) at the event, but there will definitely be a next time! Perhaps it was due to the many DSLR selfies being taken by Chants and I – who has time for phone selfies anyway. 😉

Speaking of Chantelle (otherwise now known as Demi Lovato/Ariana Grande/Selena Gomez), she’ll be starting her blogging journey very soon and I’m so excited to share her blog link with you! After many discussions at her desk, I can’t wait to be seeing her content which will be a good mix of indie music, fashion, beauty and hopefully some type of Asian influence (ie: manga, anime and k-pop/j-pop) that got us to become friends.

I want everything in the latest Forever New collection and with the 15% discount offered during the night, it was tempting. Alas, I did not come out with anything – except for the super pretty purse that came in the gift bag. I think I’ll be heading to Forever New soon though to grab a piece or two from the collection – LOVE IT!

Make sure to head to your closest Forever New store to take a look at the wonderful collection, Wild Orchid! Here are some photos from the event that I took.

Mango Durban Store Launch

Last night I attended the Mango store launch with my sister (who was DJing at the event). It was super exciting because this was the first store to open in the province of KwaZulu-Natal – yay! I’m not going to lie, I was a bit confused at first because the store actually opened on Monday yet last night was an event opened to the public – I guess there is more to it than meets the eye so I won’t delve on that too much… but I’m pretty sure a handful of people came through only for the free food. Ha ha.

I loved being able to take a look at the clothing more closely than I’d normally would and capture the beauty of each item’s detail. The prices are not bad at all; I believe in paying good money for quality so they sure do deliver on that. I fell in love with the bags and scarves – I know what I’m getting myself for Christmas! I really am so happy that this Spanish brand has landed in Durban, it’s a must-shop destination for any fashion concious girl.

Below are a few photos I took – enjoy!

I’ll Keep This Memory On The Map I Trace

Um, I was born in 1993 so technically, I was a kid of the 90's and not a teen. It was only in 2006 did I turn 13 to officially be referred to as a teenager. Oh, I definitely was more like a toddler of the 90's. What a pity because the 90's seemed like a great time to be growing up in. Firstly, there was no advanced technology like we have now but the second - if not first - most important point is that all the best teen movies and shows were created and aired in the 90's. I'd love to watch them all over and over and over again. Oh my heck, do you remember the fashion of the 90's!? Pretty interesting. Teeny tiny buns that Miley Cyrus should try out, tight curls the Jersey Shore guys could sport, butterfly clips that everyone loved and printed tights and...

I’ll Be Heading To The July!

Hey guys! I hope you are all well. Did I tell you all that I moved desks at work? It's tricky to describe our floor plan, but I'll upload photos next week maybe. Basically, I'm loving how my new spot is so quiet and I'm able to be more focused. Though, I do miss the random conversations with my colleagues about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, but they've just forgotten about me so I've made peace with that...
