We're in April and my mind can't comprehend where all the time has gone by! Seriously, what happened?

Things have been quiet on here as work has been quite busy. I'm hoping to be able to share all the deets from June once everything has settled.

I've been focusing on positive changes and choosing what makes me happy over what doesn't these days. I'm planning to share some of these experiences and thoughts soon.

New Year, New Us

I could have titled this ‘New Year, New Me’ but I didn’t want to imply projecting change for myself – a new year allows us all to reflect on ourselves and work towards a positive goal. Also, the key word is goal – note how I did not use the term resolution.

 

Resolutions seem too strict of a term to tie ourselves to and the moment we break it and don’t succeed we find ourselves in a pity pot of emotion. Whereas a goal, is far easier to attain if you break it down into digestible chunks: one month, three months, six months and so on dependent on what it is.

 

I like sharing my own goals because it allows me a chance to look back and see what I’ve done. In the past I’ve never really achieved every single thing I listed for myself but 2018 is going to be different. I want to rid myself of my habits such as negativity and procrastination (I know I’m not alone with this).

Here are some of my 2018 goals:

 

Create more content

I have so many ideas and I feel I’ve been in a creative slump for the last two years. Those types of ruts can be hard to get out of but surprisingly a recent episode of Girls that I watched saw the main character Hannah feel the same. Hannah voiced her concerns to a group of colleagues she had and I could kind of relate to the group who kept saying “we plan to do x, y and z’ but they never did. I don’t want to be that person. Also, I never expected such inspo from Girls to be honest.

 

Start my podcast

This goes hand-in-hand with the above. I was actually meant to release my first episode in December – I recorded and edited it – but decided to use what I produced as an opportunity to see what needed to be improved. This will live on both YouTube and Soundcloud.

 

Get healthy

Pretty self explanatory but I want to get my health and all of that sorted out. Let’s be honest, out of everything on the list this is going to be the most challenging but the end goal is totally worth it.

 

Try new things

I’m a creature of habit which means trying new things takes me out of my comfort zone which I don’t like at all. I’m getting slightly better at saying yes to new things and I want to see a bigger improvement in 2018.

 

Live a motivated life

Basically what I mean is to banish the negativity and only allow in positivity – from thoughts to people. I think this is the year of self-growth and self-love. From law of attraction to getting more organised, I only want to surround myself with joy, happiness and inspiration.
