We're in April and my mind can't comprehend where all the time has gone by! Seriously, what happened?

Things have been quiet on here as work has been quite busy. I'm hoping to be able to share all the deets from June once everything has settled.

I've been focusing on positive changes and choosing what makes me happy over what doesn't these days. I'm planning to share some of these experiences and thoughts soon.

Keep shining bright,

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Reaction

Star Wars: The Force Awakens – Reaction

Confession: I’ve never watched a Star Wars movie before… until last night when I watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I’m that person, I may not have watched the movies or read the comics/books, but I can appreciate the huge impact it has had on pop culture and still get excited about the hype. I know, how odd. I don’t quite know why I skipped the franchise until now, but better late than never right?

I actually was meant to go to a different event for the movie and not the IMAX screening at Eastgate. I actually wasn’t even meant to go because I was not feeling too well and the thought of sitting through a movie where I thought I was going to be clueless really was not appealing. Regardless, 30 minutes late to the film and many gasps later, What can be confidently said is: I enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Awakens immensely! J. J. Abrams really did a wonderful job directing this first movie out of the sequel trilogy. It’s the movie that really has me wanting to discover more.

Star Wars is always something I skipped from the films to books, but I always enjoyed the video games. Being able to sit and watch the latest instalment was quite an experience – and not just for the incredible IMAX screen! I was pleasantly surprised that I didn’t become bored hafway and following the storyline wasn’t too difficult. Judging from the reactions around me, this instalment really fed on the fans emotions and possibly nostalgia related to the previous films.

I’m scared to give away spoilers here so I won’t focus too much on the progression of the plot and instead have you all enjoy it. What I can say is that I am quite conflicted in my feelings towards Kylo Ren… I know I should not like him yet, Adam Driver delivered such a great performance I can’t help really liking him regardless of his more darker themes he stands for. Daisy Ridley as Rey is so intriguing. Rey is a woman who likes to do things for herself and she quite self-sufficient in so many aspects which is respectable. All I want to know is more about her life and backstory. Also, can I say how pretty she is! Her and Finn (John Boyega) have such fun and witty banter and one-liners that I really enjoy all their scenes together! I finally was able to witness the epicness which is Chewbacca! Finally. Guys, let’s not judge me. Also, hello #HairGoals right there. Lastly, where can I get my own BB-8!? Such a little cutie! The model version at the event was so adorable!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens really changed my thoughts  and has me more interested in the franchise. I’m so glad because I was really doubting how normal I am for having not been a fan. It was such an exciting and exhilarating experience to be able to watch it at IMAX.

If you’ll be heading out to watch the movie, enjoy! If you’re a bit skeptical and don’t quite understand the hype, please go and watch it! I wish I was able to delve more into it but I can’t risk the possibility of spoilers but trust me, it will be worth it.
