How are we already halfway through 2021!? I don't know about anyone else, but my brain refuses to understand the notion of time anymore.

How are you planning to spend the rest of the year? I like to use June as a way to reflect and figure out the plan for the next half of the year, and it'll be the same this year. I may share some of my planning and thoughts along the way along with new projects and happenings too.

5 Shows I’m Currently Watching

Why don’t I do these roundups more often? I watch a lot of TV shows, dramas and anime. It actually surprises me how many at a time – I use the excuse of it being research for work to make myself feel better. I figured with us still in lockdown that this would be a nice recurring feature to have.

My favourite pastime these days after an 8-hour workday is to make something nice to eat and catch up with a few episodes of whatever I’m watching. I know eating in front of the TV isn’t the most ideal but it’s very inviting during these times.

I have a very diverse list of shows I watch so I’ll try to keep the list a mix of everything but still appealing to everyone. I’ve listed a handful of shows I’ve either just finished watching or still am going through.

Housekeepers: I really do enjoy the TV series and movie offerings from South Africa, we have such great talent and excellent stories to tell. Housekeepers is currently my local binge starring Thando Thabethe. Drama is an understatement, I had to take a moment to digest episode 1 and make sure I understood what’s happening… but two days later I was caught up and ready to follow along with the season 2 weekly release. Find out more and watch new episodes weekly on Showmax.

Gilmore Girls: I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve watched this show or re-watched favourite episodes. I’m currently in the middle of season 4 and it’s been great to re-live every emotion and have the show as a comfort point during these times. I’m planning to finish in time for the 20-year anniversary.

Miracle Workers: Daniel Radcliffe is in it, that’s all. Okay besides DanRad, this is a very quick watch – only 7 episodes for season 1 – and it surprised me how I enjoyed it quite a lot. It’s a workplace comedy set in heaven so there are some relatable points – except us not having the angel wings the main characters figuratively have. From what I can see, the first season is much brighter than what the second season offers – which is not available in South Africa yet. Watch Season 1 of Miracle Workers on Showmax.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: my friend got me into RPDR a few seasons back and I’ve been hooked… but I have a ton to get through from the original series, spin-offs and specials. All the episodes I have to watch is not a bad thing though, and I’m enjoying fangirling over the great Michelle Visage, a whole queen.

Itaewon Class: this Korean drama has had me hooked! It makes me want to visit Itaewon ASAP (well, after the current world happenings). Everything from the cinematography and storyline to the music and fashion has me obsessed. I’m thinking it’s about time I write a short beginners guide to k-dramas… or even a podcast episode.

Anyone else a fan of some of the above shows?
