How are we already halfway through 2021!? I don't know about anyone else, but my brain refuses to understand the notion of time anymore.

How are you planning to spend the rest of the year? I like to use June as a way to reflect and figure out the plan for the next half of the year, and it'll be the same this year. I may share some of my planning and thoughts along the way along with new projects and happenings too.

Work

My Work-From-Home Desk Setup

Hello everyone! I’ve been posting a lot about my current work setup and stationery on Instagram and thought it would be nice to share some of the photos here too. This is in no way near to being finished, it’s definitely the early stages but felt it’d be fun to document the process of getting it “aesthetically pleasing”.

Prior to the current pandemic, I didn’t have a work space I really liked so while a lot of us are still working from home I figured it’d be a better time than any to focus on creating an ideal little area to be productive. Please don’t expect anything professional, I’m here for a simple, cute aesthetic – think pastels, Disney and the like.

BTS of the Roast of AKA

Oh hi, hey, hello! Where have I been lost? Busy at work surprisingly. Things have changed quite a lot since last year, which is the main reason for my silence. It seems every year something or the other creeps up which takes my attention away, but this year I want to put triple the effort into balancing everything. I think this would be the most pivotal time in my life to document the happenings, changes and learnings… so why not do it here? At least it’ll be a lot better than going back in time to what I wrote in 2011 (what a cringe fest!).

Introducing The Dish with Sips and Mish

Is it too early to hope 2018 can hurry up already? I have a lot of ideas and things I want to do but feel waiting for the new year to kick it off is ideal… hence the silence. I mean, it’s not as if I’ve done nothing. If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram or still have some sort of presence on Facebook then you’d know that I’ve been a part of something really cool for DStv: The Dish with Sips and Mish.

What I’ve been up to

Hello all! I hope everyone is well? It’s been a pretty busy week work-wise. From interviews and features to a ton of other exciting stuff coming up. I don’t often share my daily work (not website related) here but I figured it might be worthwhile from time to time.

Enjoy some of the content I’ve created over the last two weeks and some details on up-coming interviews.

#TBT: Delicious Doings

Aaah, last week Saturday. Saturday was one of the longest days of my life related to an event, but definitely one of the most fun too. I was at the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, presented by Nedbank event for work. Basically I was there to do a few interviews and help out where I could with the rest of the team and our video team. It was an absolute blast!

Delicious is a decadent and exciting fusion of food and music so there is something for everyone to enjoy on the day. There was a great line-up of local and international artists performing but I was most excited for the food talent which included UK chef Reza Mahammad from Food Network as well as some of our best local Food Network chefs, Jenny Morris and Siba Mtongana.

Our day started super early with the team arriving at work at around 9am for us to head off together to the event which was about 20 or 30 minutes away. Of course the drive there was endless fun with us having a bunch of awesome conversations that had me laughing a ton.

The actual day was super long and freezing cold but enjoyable. From getting side eyed in a certain area we were not meant to be in to running across the event location to charge the camera batteries and all the famous faces we passed, it was an unforgettable day – definitely one for the books! At some point though I think I zoned out just before Chaka Khan’s performance because – let me say it again – I WAS FREEZING COLD! I will never get used to Winter in JHB. Never ever.

We Keep Moving Forward Opening New Doors

Hey everyone! How are you? I had a brainwave of an idea the other day which I tweeted about on Twitter. It was a blog-related idea - one could even say a moment of total inspiration or maybe even realization. I won't say too much about it because it's pretty technical and makes more sense in my head but soon you'll start seeing what it by the new direction of my posts. I've finally found a way to tie everything I love together so that it all makes more sense - I can't have multiple blogs, I'm sorry...

I’ll Be Heading To The July!

Hey guys! I hope you are all well. Did I tell you all that I moved desks at work? It's tricky to describe our floor plan, but I'll upload photos next week maybe. Basically, I'm loving how my new spot is so quiet and I'm able to be more focused. Though, I do miss the random conversations with my colleagues about Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, but they've just forgotten about me so I've made peace with that...

Zara Opening – Images & Review

Hey Guys! I'm so sorry that this is long overdue, but I have been so tired lately and busy that sitting in front of my laptop and blogging is the last thing on my mind. Have I mentioned the flooding and heavy rain and wind thanks to Cyclone Irina? It's a rare thing for Durban to experience. Well, enough about the weather! Last week Thursday I attended the Zara media opening at Gateway Theatre of Shopping. There weren't that many people - very exclusive. Instead of an opening, I would have rather given it the catch phrase 'collection viewing' as that is what it had seemed to have been. There were light snacks and it felt like I was in a fashion museum. Seriously, if you are not into those clean lines, high-end and quite 'out there yet still subtle' looks, then Zara is not your place to be shopping at. Every...

I Look Like A Roast Chicken

Oh wow, this is my first blog for December and as usual, I'm going to start off with my complaints. I'm so tired. This must have been the longest weekend of my life that just passed. Deadmau5 was awesome and Prime Circle yesterday was painful! Okay, let me rephrase the above; due to the insane heat and sun yesterday I got sun burnt. Seriously, I'm Indian for crying out loud and didn't think it would be THIS bad? I'm like 548574 shades darker and have a red tinge to my skin. I look so bad. It's so depressing.  I really just want it to fade away now and I will be so so happy. I don't like my skin complexion to be any darker than it should be. I look like a roast chicken - that's the best way to describe this - Like a Nando's chicken to be precise. Well,...

Right-Click & View

I wish I could really right-click someone's head, then I'd know why people are the way they are - maybe they were created in a silly .jpeg format instead of the perfect .png. I sometimes feel that I am surrounded by users; people who care very little about my existence but like to know me when they want something. From free concert tickets and merchandise to contact details and information. It can become so stressful and frustrating that it makes me want to just run away. It's so hard to near impossible to find people who are interested in being my friend for me as a person and not for what I do. I mean, sometimes I think that people are genuine at first but later they show their true colours. Recently, I've had such drama with a now ex-friend. I don't want to go into details but I was justified in my...
