Disney, friends, and fun
I had every intention of being early for The Walt Disney Company Africa content showcase event… alas, I was not. How disappointing, right? After getting something important done and requesting my Uber at 08:00, I was stuck on ONE ROAD for 45 minutes in Fourways. 45 minutes. Sigh.
I must commend Xavier from Uber, because I understood the issue with the traffic and pleaded that we get to Rosebank by at least 09:30 (registration for Disney ended then) and well he did! YAY! By the time I waited for Yentl to arrive and for us to get through the traffic to The Venue at Melrose Arch where everything was taking place, it was 09:55… I’M SO SORRY DISNEY! I was an hour late. 🙁
There was Disney decor everywhere – it was simply wonderful! Of course, rushing in and such, I didn’t get to admire everything or take photos. We missed the Disney Baby and Disney Junior presentation sadly but as always they were very understanding – thanks Jared for being absolutely great about how late I was. It was funny though because when we had said our goodbyes, I ended up going back to get a validated parking ticket for Yentl and Jared jokingly reminded me about how if I had arrived on time I would have gotten one earlier on – thanks for that J. :p Sadly I didn’t get to talk to him for long even though I intended to and had lots to discuss and was one of the reasons I wanted to go early. SIGH… next time. I realised this might be a trend… this happened during the Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron South African film premiere too. It really is not intentional at all!
Due to my extreme late arrival, I wasn’t able to see many of my friends at the event but there was one I spotted: Nikita (go check out her redesigned blog!). It was lovely catching up with her because it’s been awhile since we saw each other – she used to work with us at DStv. Of course, when in Melrose Arch, you eat so we decided to head to JB’s Corner and grab some lunch.
Our lunch was tons of fun and filled with divine pasta dishes. From talking motivation with blogging to Nikita and I ‘fighting’ over Team Taylor Swift or Team Nicki Minaj – of course I was Team Nicki! We chatted about what we all have planned goal-wise which was inspiring and had me left feeling the need to work much harder. Nikita told us about all the fun she’s been having at Cliff Central with another friend of ours, Jason and all the admin she has to do for her blog. Keep updated on her exciting life through Twitter. Basically, it was a lovely lunch! I’m pretty sure the waitress was giving us a side-eye to leave because we sat there for a good 2 to 3 hours, ha ha.
All this fun was a great way to welcome the little holiday I had planned by having taken some time off work. I literally cannot stop talking about all the fun Disney content as you can tell on my Facebook page! Thanks Disney for yet another awesome event (and goodie bag, seriously) – looking forward to the next one… where I promise to be on time. ^3^
